June 2010 News
The Civic Society Week in June was a rather mixed success. The Victorian Spa Well House in Broomfield Terrace was opened on Saturday 12th and several visitors to the town were able to take the opportunity to look around this unique building. Two conducted walks took place on Sunday 13th, visiting Georgian buildings on the west side of the town and these were well received. However on Sunday 20th the White Rabbit Trail walks had to be abandoned due to the terrible weather. It is hoped that these may take place later in the year.
The speaker for the monthly talk at Pannett Park Museum on Monday 21st was Rosalin Barker. Her talk was partly autobiographical, telling us about her time in Suffolk and North Yorkshire and contrasting the countryside and its effect on its history.
